Dear Colleagues,
You are cordially invited to attend (with physical presence) the "Quantum optics and Technology at FORTH-IESL/UoC" workshop that will be held at the G. Lianis Amphitheater of FORTH on 12-13 of April 2022. The program and the abstracts can be found in the link: https://www.iesl.forth.gr/sites/default/files/Events_programs/QuOT%20at%20FORTH-IESL_UoC%20workshop_program_Final_20220322.pdf [2].
Within the last two decades, quantum optics and technologies have made tremendous progress, moving from Nobel Prize award-winning experiments on quantum physics into a cross-disciplinary field of applied cutting-edge research advancements, and at the core of the 4th industrial revolution which sooner or later everybody has to follow.
The current workshop aims to highlight the importance and long-term scientific and technological potential of this research direction by addressing the recent progress in the field of quantum light engineering, quantum information processing, precision measurements, atomic physics and quantum biology.
We are fortunate to have a world-class scientist, Prof. Maciej Lewenstein (ICFO), provide the opening lecture. Prof. Lewenstein has made seminal contributions to varied fields of AMO physics, ranging from strong laser-matter interactions, high-harmonic generation, to quantum optics and quantum simulations. Prof. Lewenstein's lecture will touch on Quantum Optics and Attosecond Science, highlighting his longtime involvement in both fields, as well as a the new achievements concerning the connection of Quantum information science with Attophysics.
We would also like to acknowledge our local invited speakers from FORTH-IESL and UoC, who will offer our distinguished visitor a flavor of the local research activities on quantum science and technology.
Kind regards,
Workshop organizer:
Paraskevas Tzallas
(Research Director at FORTH-IESL)
