Wolf von Klitzing is the PI of the BEC and Matter Waves group (www.bec.gr [6], www.iesl.forth.gr [7]), and together with Prof Papazoglou [8] the PI of the Space Optics Laboratory [9]. The BEC group works on Bose Einstein Condensation, matter-wave interferometry and Atomtronics. They produced the first BEC in South-Eastern Europe on Friday the 13th of August 2010 and the first fully-coherent atomtronic matterwave guides [10]. The the Space Optics Laboratory concerns itself on, e.g., behalf of the European Space agency (ESA [11]) with technologies for Atom Quantum Sensors in space and with optical (quantum) communication between earth and LEO satellites.
Before starting the Cretan Matter-Waves group he worked at the Laboratoire Kastler Brossel [12] (LKB) of the Ecole Normale Superieure [13] (ENS) in Paris, La Sapienzia in Rome [14], and AMOLF [15] in Amsterdam.
